Why We Started
You've seen the adverts. A gorgeous bed frame, beautifully styled, apparently from £199. You click through, excited. Then you find out the mattress costs extra — another £180. The storage drawers? That's £120 more. The headboard shown in the photo? Not included. By the time you've built what you actually need, you've spent twice what you planned.
That's not a deal. That's a trick. Entirely legal, entirely commonplace, and entirely dishonest. The “affordable” headline is designed to get you through the door. The price you actually pay is a different conversation.
Then there's the other end of the market. The mattress vans. The warehouse clearances. Mattresses that look fine but are stuffed with shredded foam, reclaimed materials, or — in cases uncovered by consumer investigators — recycled clothing. Nobody checks. Nobody asks. The price is low and that's supposed to be enough.
We started The Honest Bed Company because we were tired of both. One price. Everything included. Made properly, in Britain, with materials you can trace. That should not be a radical idea — but in this industry, it is.

Every year we choose three colours. That's your lot. No confusing range, no upsells, no name designed to make you feel like you're booking a room at Claridge's when you're buying a divan.

Our Provenance
“Made in Britain” gets said a lot. We mean it. Timber from UK mills. Wool from British producers. Built by hand, in a workshop, on this island.
Every frame is built from timber sourced from UK mills — sustainably managed British woodland. Not imported flatpack, not pre-cut components shipped from overseas. Timber you can feel the weight of.
Our mattresses use natural wool from British wool producers. Breathable, temperature-regulating, and traceable from farm to bedroom. The opposite of anonymous foam stuffed into cheap alternatives.
Each bed is made by hand in a UK workshop. Not assembled from imported parts. Not produced in a factory where speed matters more than quality. Made properly, by people who take pride in it.

Gary and the team build your bed by hand. Our delivery team bring it to your home, assemble it in the room of your choice, and take all the packaging away. Typically 5–7 working days from order confirmation.

What's included in the price?
Everything. The bed frame, mattress, headboard, storage drawers and UK mainland delivery. There are no extras, no upgrades and nothing added at the end. The price you see is the price you pay.
Will my bed be assembled when it arrives?
Yes. Our delivery team will bring everything in, assemble your bed in the room of your choice, and take all the packaging away with them. You won't need to lift a finger.
Can I see the colour options before committing?
Yes. This season’s colours are Slate (Soft Suede Weave), Midnight (Soft Suede Weave) and Natural Stripe (Textured Weave). Select your preference in the order form below, or our customer service team will confirm it with you when they call.
How long will I wait for my bed?
Typically 5–7 working days from your confirmed order. Our customer service team will book a specific delivery date that suits you and confirm it by email — no vague windows, no waiting in all day.
Do you deliver everywhere in the UK?
UK mainland delivery is included in every order. If you're in the Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland, or a more remote location, get in touch and we'll confirm arrangements before anything is agreed.
What if something isn't right?
Call us. We're a small team, we make everything ourselves, and we stand behind our work. If something isn't right we'll sort it — no forms, no holding music, no runaround.
Are the beds genuinely handmade?
Yes. Every bed is made by hand in our UK workshop. Gary has been making beds by hand since he left school at 15 and personally checks every single one before it leaves. If it doesn't meet his standard, it doesn't go.
Why only three colour options?
Because three well-chosen options are better than forty confusing ones. This season: Slate (Soft Suede Weave), Midnight (Soft Suede Weave) and Natural Stripe (Textured Weave). They all work beautifully with most bedrooms and complement each other if you’re ordering for more than one room.
